Can't fight Exposure

6.6.10

Rehoboth Beach lifeguards called for police assistance on late Saturday afternoon after countless complaints of a group of transgender women who had their breasts... exposed! Queue kids crying, this is Rehoboth Beach Crazy.

Most interesting aspects:
The reporters got the terminology incorrect for transgender women/men and stated it was a group of transgendered men (when it was women), further reinforcing the probability for discrimination due to the unknown nature of these... creatures. Following that sentence's many nuances, let's look at the problem itself - a breast, exposed - holy Mary Magdalene! Let it be decreed, no breast should be exposed...except on billboards and magazines. Finally, the commentary on this news story has been incredibly ridiculous: "transgenders are not above the law," "pick a gender," etc. all incredibly offensive. But of course, "the transgenders brang the offensive first!" with their boobies.

This event, while comical in every aspect, also shows the lack of understanding of the individual. Aside from the disrespectful, discriminatory, and outright bigoted comments on this article, you have to know if you go to the beach as Mr. Fatty in speedos, or overexposed, you are inviting Ms. Controversy and her bitchy comments. And I bet these trans knew that. Regardless, this issue is just as much a Civil Rights issue as it is a comical one. It also highlights the need for the medieval American to understand "we are more than what is between our legs or atop our chest!"

This f*ckin story man, I can't wait to see it on the Daily Show.

So what happened after people flipped the f*ck out?
The incident happened near the surf off Queen Street around 4:45 p.m. “We have like a bit of an odd problem,” the lifeguard reported over the radio. “There are girls on our beach without tops,” he continued. “Well there apparently they are transgender and they have female breasts and a [incomplete sentence]. We tried to tell them to put shirts on and they told us they are transgender so that it’s illegal to discriminate and I just had a problem with it and that’s where we’re at right now,” he added...One police source says at least two of the men have partially completed the transgender process. He said it appeared they had breast implants but still had the male sex organ. [He had to really look hard for that.] A beach patrol official backed by four police officers convinced them to cover their breasts.

So there were no arrests were made or citations issued. So what is the city’s code on indecent exposure and topless sunbathing for men and women? See above, turns out they don't have any codes about male-turned-fe and here's where the politicos get started. Some have already said that there will be a need for further legislation. Whatever comes out of this, I'm hoping it's going to become in years one of the many silly archaic laws, like "In Connecticut, A Pickle Is Not Officially A Pickle Unless It Bounces" (how many times and who is testing?) and "In Michigan, Anyone Over Age 12 May Own A Hand Gun As Long As He/She Has Not Committed A Felony." And the topper, "In Arizona, It's Illegal To Own More Than 2 Dildos" (you don't want to cheat too much on the poor dildo).
