Good news - congressmen introduces bill to protect right to film cops - the link sums it up well.
And here's the bill
And here's an update as dh also said well:
Congressman DOES NOT introduce bill to protect citizens who are photographing cops. He has introduced a resolution condemning the arrests, which carries NO protection. It's just grandstanding.
Still, I believe that this calls attn to it and it's generally a good move. Does the congressman really think he can stop all police from acting in such a way? No, I think he's about putting the controversy out there. And, I'm glad it is. Look at all the media attn from nil to now.
See this too - dh I already shared this with you.

That's not a bill, it's a resolution--it will do nothing to protect anybody's right to do anything, even if passed. In fact, it's probably beyond Congress's power. Ah, federalism.
17 July 2010 20:23i know. it's not about stopping cops but it's hopeful in that it's moving this issue, centralizing it in the public eye. that's important.
